Counselling is not suitable for:

People with a mental illness or something that affects their ability to make relationships, to concentrate, and to attend regularly. Examples include: severe depression, psychotic illness, etc.

People with severe post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

People who are currently engaged in extreme forms of selfdestructive behaviour, prolonged substance abuse, alcohol abuse, or eating disorders.

People with a history of violent behaviour. There are specialist treatment services available for all of these problems.
