Pregnancy Risks of Bipolar Disorder

Pregnancy Risks of Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar disorder in women during pregnancy, whether treated or not, was
associated with increased risks of adverse pregnancy outcomes. Studies show that pregnant women with bipolar disorder were more likely to have low birth weight infants and preterm births than pregnant women with no history of mental illness.
Women with bipolar disorder are approximately two times more likely to undergo preterm delivery, and low birth weight babies, regardless of treatment status.
