Violence against women is common. In some places one in three women are beaten by their husband. Violence occurs in all classes of society. It severely damages a woman’s health. In the
most extreme situations it can cause her death. Many victims seek help for the various health problems they suffer as a result of domestic violence. This is why violence against women is an
important community health issue.
