Why do children behave badly?

Why do children behave badly?
Many parents feel the main cause is that the child is ‘bad’. This is never true. The main reason for conduct problems is the way a child has been taught about discipline by the parents. There are notable situations that lead to conduct problems:
• When there is violence in the family a child learns that this is a way in which adults deal with their anger and unhappiness. The child will do the same.
• When parents are not consistent in the way they discipline their child, the child is no longer sure whether the behaviour is right or wrong.
• When a child is neglected he may learn that the only way to get attention is to misbehave.
• When a child is using drugs, she may steal to get money to buy drugs.
Sometimes, children have conduct problems because of another mental health problem, such as hyperactivity  or dyslexia .
