Rape is when a man forces a woman to have sex without her permission. In most countries rape
refers to forced sex where there is penetration of the woman’s sexual passage (her vagina) by the
man’s sexual organ (his penis). Sexual assault is a broader term that includes rape as well as other
forms of sexual violence:
• touching or grabbing parts of her body;
• making sexually suggestive comments or movements;
