Abnormal sexual behaviour

Abnormal sexual behaviour
Abnormal sexual behaviour is when a person shows sexual behaviour at the wrong times, for example in a public place, or in a manner that is threatening. Examples of abnormal sexual behaviour include:
• taking off one’s clothes in a public place;
• showing one’s sexual organs in a public place;
• an elderly person trying to have sex with his partner even though they may not have had sexual
relations for several years.
When this happens, it causes great concern to the family. Sometimes, the person is abused or beaten for behaving in this manner. Many people who show abnormal sexual behaviour are either suffering from a severe mental disorder or from a brain disease. Referral to a mental health specialist may be needed.
