Typical antipsychotics are all equally effective at treating the positive symptoms of psychosis and overall approximately 80% of people will respond to treatment. Detailed summaries of the effi cacy of individual drugs are available as systematic reviews from the Cochrane Collaboration. Typical antipsychotics do not improve negative symptoms and may indeed exacerbate them.
